ArchLinux with Crossover Office 11.3 installed (and working fine).
I have a bottle with Office 2010 installed and seemingly working fine, but I'm having problems with another application (Objective 8.1.1 ... an EDM "thingie"). Specifically when trying to open a Word document I get an error dialog with the text "There is no application associated with this file. Open it with Notepad?".
Several additional facts :-
The document icon within the Objective application is the Word icon.
Using the Wine Explorer within the office-2010 bottle works fine - .docx files open fine in Word with a double-click.
Opening with Notepad does exactly what you would think - opens Notepad with the .docx loaded ... not particularly useful.
I couldn't find any info on your "Objective thingie", but a thought passed through my mind. I wondered if that software wasn't dependant on some MS office files.
If that were the case, both "Objective" and MS Office should be in the same bottle so that Objective can open your files. Of course, this is just me going off on a wild theory since I couldn't find a website to read up on your software.
Well, I was sort of hoping that it was a general well-known problem rather than expecting some support on some random piece of windows stuff that's been forced on me! But Objective is an electronic document management systems :-
Well, I just went to your software link, and found a site filled with PR and little info as to the requirements for the software. Maybe I'm just blind. In other words, I didn't find anything useful on their website.
In any case, I wonder if your problem opening thing could be related to the problem found here. I've never had such problems on my Arch installs, so I'm not very hopefull, but it doesn't cost anything to look it up.
Other than that, I'm short of having any stroke of genius. As Arch users, we use an unsupported distro, but you might try a support ticket anyway, as Codeweavers staff are a very open bunch.
Yes, it's getting increasingly difficult to find anything technical on some websites :(
Given that there's a new version out, I'll try again after upgrading and if it doesn't work raise a ticket then. Thanks for your help.
