I got Crossover to play an MMORPG, Asheron's Call. The software worked great allowing me to download the game and upload the launcher.
However when trying to log into the game it crashes with the message: The game encountered a fatal DirectX issue while attempting to start.
Try a different screen resolution or bit depth. If that doesn't work try new video drivers.
I read a post about this/something similar with a guy and the game "Gun"
I did as the admin said there and unchecked the "hide" button to reveal MS DirectX
I downloaded it through Crossover and it's placed in the same bottle as Asheron's Call, "winxp"
The game still crashes from launch with the same message. I've repaired AC.exe and it's the same ouctome.
Do I need to move AC into it's own bottle and then move DirectX into that bottle?
I really want crossover to work for me instead of going through bootcamp but currently I'm baffled and at an utter loss.

P.S. I am using a Hannspree external monitor with resolution currently at: 1280 x 960 32bit color.
It can easily go to 1920 x 1200. Could this be an issue to? i'm so lost..
Forgot to add.. using the trial version of Crossover Mac. haven't purchased the product yet.. wanted to make sure the game would run first.. is that an issue as well?
This is really hard to tell. "Fatal DirectX issue" gives very little information. Often such generic error messages don't have anything to do with directx at all :-/
I'm right there with you.. there are only 2 ways I can play this game on a mac. Bootcamp and your software.. you have screenshots of it working through Crossover so I know it can be done.
Do you have any ideas I could try that might fix this issue? ie: does ac need to be in it's own bottle not the winxp bottle? do i need to buy the software not use the demon trial? is my screen resolution too high for most games atm and I should lower it but to what?
Any help would do I really don't wanna use Bootcamp but I might be running out of options fast..
