I tried this with a demo, Bejeweled 2, to see if my new graphics card would handle the more advanced graphics features of that game (as an indicator that more advanced features would work in other games). And when I click the Install Demo button nothing happens. The game doesn't show up in the list, nothing. I've even tried it with other game demos. I wonder if this had to do with the recent upgrade for the kernel in Ubuntu.
[edit: Nevermind. I found the thread about "not being able to buy games" and I guess it's the same thing. Ok, now I understand.]
