Using Crossover Games Mac 7.1.0 it seems that whenever I click a "purchase game" link within Steam, it does not tell the usual popup to open for entry of payment information.. thus I cannot purchase anything. I'm trying this with STALKER and also just tried with Dark Messiah Might and Magic.
The Mac/Linux browsers don't understand the steam:// links on the websites. You can install Windows Firefox into the same bottle, this should work around this issue.
I'm just wondering if anyone from Codeweavers has a work-around for this bug? I have asked a couple of my friends who also have CrossOver Games and all three of them report a similar issue.
I have the same issue latest version of Crossover and Steam, Tried Reboot, Install Windows Firefox, Reboot, Remove the blob file, Reboot, Reboot. Still cannot get the Purchase button to work...???
I've been told that there is a problem with JavaScript in our IE DLL replacement. A workaround for this is to open the steam store in the Windows Firefox installed in the bottle, purchase there, and then follow the Steam:// at the end of the purchase.
The other emergency option is to login to your Steam account on Windows, buy the game there, and then go back to CrossOver, and the game will be in your account and downloadable.
what is the easiest way to install firefox into an existing bottle? putting this up on the faq or escalating it might be a good idea, this seems like an issue lots of people are going to be running into.
Wrt documentation - Ken is working on forwarding the information about steam:// links to Mac browsers, and we have work going on on jscript.dll. So hopefully the next release will obsolete this discussion entirely. Use whatever you choose - the store should work in Steam, and in Safari or MacOS Firefox.
Installing a web browser just to purchase a game seems like a complicated solution to a fairly simple problem. I just installed CounterStrike:Source by starting Steam from the command line, explained in the third post on this thread:
I just used Firefox to go to the Steam website. When I clicked on the link, I associated steam.exe with it, and it worked (well, the Portal demo downloaded anyway)

How do you associate steam with the link? The "install demo" link opens a popup which asks if you have steam installed. I choose "Yes, .." and get the message: "Steam is not a registered protocol".
