As the subject says, I have an issue with Steam and Crossover Games Mac.
Specifically, when I login to steam, browse games and click on either a "screenshots" or "download demo" link, nothing happens. At all. According to my PC owning, Steam using friends, I should get a popup at this point with either screenshots or a link to the demo. Curiously many of the other popups work, like the news window which appears when I start steam.
I have tried right clicking these links and selecting "open" and "open in new window", neither of these do anything. Neither do any of the other right click menu actions.
I'm running OS X 10.5.5 on an 20" Intel 2.4Ghz iMac, and would greatly appreciate any advice you can give. I'm willing to help debug and work out this issue as best I can.
It is a known problem, and I think it is related to the lack of JavaScript support in our IE replacement libraries. This is on the todo list for the next version.
The workaround is to install Windows Firefox into the same bottle, go to the Steam website there, and browse the game catalog there. At the final step there will be some steam:// link, which Firefox forwards to Steam.
(Beyond JavaScript, we're also working on making those Steam:// links known to Mac browsers, so you'll be able to use Safari or Mac Firefox for this later)
Thanks, this works for me as you describe. A couple of the Steam links don't work (though the popup does show correctly), notably the Half-Life 2 demo. I guess this is a Steam problem rather than a Crossover issue?
Update: Darwinia and Psychonauts demos also don't work.
