I have 112 GB available on my computer. The Witcher 3's installer is for some reason reporting that I only have between 17 and 18 GB available. I've tried restarting my computer, creating new bottles, clearing over 20 GB of space, but despite all these efforts, the installer still reports a value between 17 and 18 GB of disk space available. Does anyone know how to fix this?
In case it's relevant, I've tried on CrossOver 21.1 and the 21.2 beta, and I'm installing manually from the offline backup installers from GOG.
edit: I ended up solving this issue by moving the installer files to a different folder (same drive; moved from ~/Documents to ~/Desktop). This solution doesn't make any sense, but it worked. Posting in case anyone else runs into it.
I had to reinstall because of issues with the game, and now I'm running into the same issue, but moving the files around isn't helping. If anyone knows another way around this, please share. Thanks.
I have the exact same issue. tl;dr, this is due to macOS' weird approach of not actually freeing up the space when you delete files. By right, any need to use more space should rightfully force macOS to clear out purgeable space, but sometimes it doesn't do that.
To resolve this, I used an app called DaisyDisk which has a feature for you to scan and make it delete all the purgeable space. I also blogged it here in detailed. You can download the trial version and do this one time to clear you back the space, but the app is pretty useful imho to purchase and keep forever.
Trying to do this manually is not something I would recommend. It's not exactly a simple folder to clear. The only one caveat I would add when doing this is you might also clear out iCloud sync files, which you can of course download it again to you Mac.
