hi
i've found that when i run sam & max - culture shock, or another world collector's edition, in full screen mode (any resolution), there is a title bar for the window at the top of the screen. world of goo doesn't have this problem, it runs fullscreen without anything around it.
i googled and saw this problem mentioned for other games, but haven't seen a solution. any ideas?
thanks
MacOS(or to be more precise: quartz_wm) cannot turn a window title on or off once a window has been created. If the game creates the Window with a title bar, and then switches to fullscreen(thus disabling the title bar), the title bar will still stick around, even though CrossOver tells quartz_wm to turn it off.
We hope that at some day either apple will fix these problems in quartz_wm, or we have a native quartz driver to avoid all the quartz_wm issues.
Cool seems the same as my Deus Ex II problem.
Is there a way to disable all windows with title bars (i.e. have window titles off by default on ever window?) I'm guessing this would be impractical and probably completely ruin many games but hey... if it's possible then cool ;)
I'm no programmer so know jack about what's possible/practical, but if there was an option in the preferences saying "never display window title bars" I think it would be a good little hack to get some games working.
Speaking of which... I think such an option already exists.
Configure menu > Manage bottles
Then select the "Control Panel" tab, and open up winecfg. Inside winecfg select the "graphic tab" there's a few options... I took interest in the following:
"Allow the window manager to decorate the windows"
and
"Allow the window manager to control the windows"
I don't know which one did it, but I un-checked both of these and it seemed to fix my problem (Deus Ex II seems to enter full-screen mode correctly now). Maybe worth trying out with other games?
It's not entirely the same, but if it does the job 😊
The side effect of this option is a loss of keyboard input in some apps and some window managers on Linux
