Using trial version of CX 14.1.1 on Ubuntu 14.10. I need to have internet explorer installed for a program I would like to try to install. Some fonts try to install first, and this is where I am stuck. Any ttf font installation fails with wine error "The program (unidentified) has encountered a serious error and needs to close.We are sorry for the inconvenience." I tried letting ie7 install the fonts, installing corefonts, and installing individual fonts, all fail in the same way.
From the backtrace.txt saved when attempting to install trebuchet, it shows:
Unhandled exception: page fault on read access to 0x01002723 in 32-bit code (0x01002723).
followed by register and stack dumps, followed by:
Backtrace:
=>0 0x01002723 EntryPoint() in 6e3354b6e016a9d84e99a1f94d2d5c4eY:.cxoffice\installers\6e3354b6e016a9d84e99a1f94d2d5c4e.trebuc32.exe (0x0033fe78)
When I skip the font installations, the XML parser and flash player install fine, and ie7 install ends with
"An error occurred while installing Internet Explorer 7
The installer has exited but Internet Explorer 7 does not seem to be installed".
This happens regardless of whether I press restart later or restart now.
Under the applications in that bottle, several other expected applications are there, but not ie. I can find and "run" the ie.exe command, but I just get a blank browser window that doesn't connect to anything. I assume the ie install fails because there are no fonts installed.
Since I can't find anyone else having a problem with the fonts, I guess it's a problem with my system, maybe permissions? AFAIK, Crossover is running everything in my home folder.
