Xbox controller not detected by Crossover Preview

Like the title suggests, my xbox wireless controller is no longer being detected by the app. I tried restarting, making sure I plugged it in and had it on before I launched Crossover.
Tired enabling Steam inputs like some posts suggested, Disabled them as well since that was also a suggestion.
I checked controller settings and it doesn’t even appear. It did so yesterday, so that’s why I’m so frustrated about this.
Anyone have this issue as well?

Hello,

while I wouldn't expect this to be the case in Wine / Crossover I have seen a friend of mine go through multiple non-MS/PSX/Switch/Steam controllers before he could find one that would work with Steam. He had to eventually get an actual MS controller, from the sounds of your problem are you using genuine? For it to be recognized and usable (Only on the Mac) it must be authentic, I wonder if this is the same impairment that's happening with you.

Because the OS (MacOS) may not recognize it properly (although they now say wired XBox is supported) it's not talking well with Crossover. Do you have a friend or anyone with a genuine MS/PSX/Switch controller (again if you are not using one) so you can try to see if this is the case? Of course, I'm only guessing as to your setup if you are using actual MS, etc... controllers. I.M.O it shouldn't matter whether wired or not but wired just isn't supported anymore by MacOS for other types. Once I tried hooking up a USB-C cable from my Xbox controller to my Mac and nothing worked anymore. This was before Sequoia.

I'm very curious as to your findings! If you can try a Branded MS/PSX/Switch Bluetooth controller vs. a wired one (or unplug yours and go BT) and report back. I would appreciate it. Since MacOS became more modern it stopped having support for certain wired controllers and notibly off-branded ones. Here is a link to one such forum post on apple.com I know it is older than my article above (and a couple of versions of MacOS older as well) but I'm trying to show the evolution of the problem.

If you wouldn't mind updating your findings I would love to read them! But he only used the MacOS client of Steam no Crossover.

I use a BT MS Xbox controller and so far so good. I had some hiccups a few point versions ago with it but some articles that I read squared me away with Crossover.

Hey, so I do have an official branded MS controller. Bought it at my local Argos and have used it flawlessly for a month straight. Now it's genuinely just not showing up on CO but works perfectly on Mac. I'll try to get some batteries and go BT, then report back. Gives me a chance to also update to Sequoia 15.3

Jack,

I have this feeling that once you go BT it may work! I have my fingers crossed for you! Also, be sure to have it on before you launch Steam. I've had mixed results with some games about not having it on before launching a Steam Bottle.

Let me know! :)

Hi Jack!

What’s the story after testing BT? Success or no? I’m very curious about this problem and would like to try and help you get up and running! :)

Swapped to BT, still not coming up. Gonna uninstall and reinstall later today

Use CodeWeavers uninstaller then grab v. 25.0~1b. Let me know all I can think is something may have happened in your app. But continue to use BT it's more compatible with a lot of things in Steam (MacOS-wise) I've noticed and if you can't get a wired connection working BT is def the way to go. Please post any info you may have if you get it working. This is good info to have in case someone else is having the same problem. However if you can't get it working reach out to CodeWeavers they are good folk and respond pretty quick.

The old reliable “Uninstall and reinstall” combo worked. Back to playing Cyberpunk and eagerly waiting for someone to drop a fix for Spiderman 2

ALright! Glad to hear you are back to gaming! BT or Wired?
