I'm wondering why Fusion 360 v2.0.15509 can be run in Wine, but crashes when the same installer is used in CrossOver
What can i do to try and resolve the issues preventing this app from working in Crossover
I would love to get this app running in CrossOver so that the maker community can use this without needing to be tied to windows
The following script works to install Fusion 360 and get to the main window once logged in (Other patches are needed, but this is the simplified installer)
What version of Wine is working well for Fusion 360? It's possible that CrossOver 22.1.1 isn't working because it's based on Wine 7.7.
If the Wine version isn't the issue, then it's just a matter of making sure you're using the same strategies in CrossOver that the script does for Wine. It looks like a Windows 10 bottle is needed, and a DLL override needs to be set - does anything else need to be done with Wine?
Ive currently been using Wine 8.5 Staging.
However it seems I was working under assumptions due to the length of time Fusion 360 has worked on wine (since at least Feb 2021, ~wine 6.0? ) that the dependencies and fixes would have been merged.
I will get WineHQ 7.7 installed to definitively confirm if it can run, and hopefully be able to diagnose something from there ^_^
Edit: Using bottles the following 'Runners' work:
lutris-7.2.2 (needs DXVK enabled to run)
vaniglia-7.18 (needs DXVK enabled to run)
soda-7.0-9
Unfortunately I'm not sure how to compare against a vanilla version of Wine 7.7
In that case, I would think that this should work fine in CrossOver provided you do the following:
Use a win10 bottle
Install Microsoft Visual C++ 2017 Redistributable Runtime
Install TrueType font: Arial
Use regedit to make the needed registry changes
Best,
Meredith
