scom60.ocx in Crossover , how?

It seems crazy to me that scom60.ocx can be setup with winetricks in wine,
however there is no method for crossover to allow this vb6 program install ?

Hi there,

How are you setting it up with winetricks?

Best,
Meredith

For the VB6 program FTBCAT (https://millerm.org/amateur_radio/software/g4hfq.co.uk/download.html) ,,see bottom of list, also FTBasicMMO at top of list, that I am trying to run in Crossover Linux, the solution using wine/winetricks is ;

winetricks vb6run

winetricks mfc42

also

sudo apt install cabextract
sudo apt install wine wine64 libwine fonts-wine

It is a fairly simple program that should be able to run easily in Crossover, if the dependencies are resolved ?As it stands installing in Crossover, executing or installing FTBCAT gives the following error message;

c:\windows\system32\scom60.OCX
Unable to register the DLL/OCX: RegSvr32 failed with exit code 0x1

however the wine/winetricks procedure shown above solves the issue and the program runs fine under wine in linux.

thankyou

Adrian

Further info on the issue, when they looked at early wine installs ;

"To solve the error message you are receiving during your FTBCAT installation in Wine:
"c:\windows\system32\scom60.OCX
Unable to register the DLL/OCX: RegSvr32 failed with exit code 0x1"

You will need to find a copy of "mfc42.dll", usually found in the system32 directory of a Windows XP machine into the equivalent directory of your Wine installation. Once you do that, the installation of FTBCAT using Wine will proceed to the end without error. However, the FTBCAT installation in Wine will not work correctly without access to certain libraries.

FTBCAT also needs access to the runtime libraries in "Flash 10 ActiveX Control" and "Microsoft Visual Basic 6 Service Pack 6 Runtime", although I am not exactly sure how to do this in Wine."

Latest Crossover now just has a search window for windows apps to add to a bottle etc, when it did used to have a dependecy list.

Hi Meredith, I think I have answered your question, but no response from you regarding the solution for Crossover?
I note in another thread regarding similar query from a user mentioning installing vb6run with winetricks, ..
that person was trying to find out how to do the same support in crossover as could be done in wine/winetricks, but
you just said that crossover does not use winetricks, which was irrelevant. The user wanted to know how to do the same with Crossover ?

That was just an example, just a comparison of how these type of programs can be used in free wine/winetricks setups,
but $ Crossover does not seemingly support the same programs ? Can you not provide a method solution for Crossover ?

Finally resovled this one ;

I started from scratch using a Windows XP 32 bit bottle, (later modern bottle types not compatible).

However the answer to get mfc42.dll installed # , was to also install Microsoft Visual C++ 6.0 *(6.0 & 4.2) Redist.

This solves the s60com.ocx issue.
