I got the CrossOver free trial on my MacBook Pro 2013 running MacOS Catalina, but I'm unable to create a bottle or install any applications. When I try to install Steam, it just repeatedly gives me The '_' task failed. messages.
When I open CrossOver from terminal and try to just create a bottle, Crossover gives a popup saying
Bottle Creation Failed
wineserver: mkdir /tmp/.wine-502: Permission Denied
setup:error: 'rundll32 win10Install crossover.inf' failed
cxbottle:error: unable to create the 'Steam' bottle in '/Users/user/Library/Application Support/CrossOver/Bottles/Steam'
and Terminal says
libcxsetup-v3.py:warning: AttributeError('icon=setup\\Riven.ico,0 is an invalid regular expression for the C4CDGlob.patterns field of Riven: The sequel to Myst')
libcxsetup-v3.py:warning: the com.codeweavers.c4.4706 profile contains errors, ignoring it
I thought the permission denied error might be due to Crossover having insufficient permissions to create folders, so I gave the app full disk access in settings. This didn't fix anything.
I don’t know what is the reason and I reveived no solution from support - using Mac Monterey - but I was able creating bottles using an older version of Crossover (23.0, released August 2023). Could you try that?
