I decided to try this very popular fan mod on my M1 and unfortunately it didn't start at all, but I was able to get it working by modifying few Wine settings.
Install the mod by following the official tutorial (I recommend preparing it on a Windows machine since Mac copy system is not that straightforward)
Copy the Silent Hill 2 folder to new Windows 7 bottle's C: root
Create a command launcher pointing to sh2pc exe
Go to Libraries
Set d3d8 to native, builtin
Set d3dcompiler_43 to native
Set d3dx9_43 to native
Install software to bottle -> DirectX for Pre-Windows XP Games
Just after the game launches press CMD+TAB and set affinity just to single processor in task manager (This fixes sound glitches)
Enjoy
I consider this a great success since there are many AMD GPUs that do not work well with this mod natively 😀
