Hi,
You need to provide more information - which version of crossover games are
you using? What model mac do you have? Which version of Mac OSX are you using?
What video card/chipset does your Mac have? Also, which release of this game
are you using?...ie; CD/DVD, Steam, other?...
Cheers!
thank you for your reply
so I use crossover games 10.1.0
I have a macbook pro intel core 2 duo released 2006
according to the preferences system video card is ATY, RadeonX1600
and I would like to use the steam version
I use mac osx 10.6.8
Hi again,
Thanks for the info - it helps. What you're fighting there. is the X1600
video chipset. It's not particularly powerful nor suited to graphics intensive
tasks, and has limited capabilities & videoram. Some games won't work at all
(or run so poorly they're unplayable), so it's really app dependent.
You'll need to experiment with various settings to find out what works and
what doesn't. Using Crossover menu -> Configure -> Manage Bottles.. ; this
will start the Bottle Manager. Select the Steam bottle in the left pane, click
on the Control Panel tab and launch the Wine Configuration item. Now click on
the Graphics tab, and you will see several configuration options.
'Emulate virtual desktop' with a 'Desktop size' of 1024x768 will conserve video
ram, the pixel and vertex shader settings will have bearing on results, but
iirc the X1600 doesn't support pixel-shader 3.0 and so game that require this
won't start. Likewise, changing registry settings can sometimes help...
REGEDIT4
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Wine\Direct3D]
"DirectDrawRenderer"="gdi"
"OffscreenRenderingMode"="fbo"
"RenderTargetLockMode"="auto"
"UseGLSL"="enable"
"VideoMemorySize"="512"
Note: Replace "512" above with the actual amount of video memory the X1600 has.
You can cut&paste the above code into a plaintext editor, save the file, and import it
into the Steam bottle using the windows registry editor (regedit)
Documentation regarding the various options for these key can be found on WineHQ;
http://wiki.winehq.org/UsefulRegistryKeys
Basically, you have to use an experiment trial and error approach - hope this helps.
Cheers!
thanks
I will try.
