This tip only applies to Crossover versions older than 3.0.0. To be able to read the text from articles: Get riched32.dll from a real Windows\\System directory and put it in ~/,cxoffice/dotwine/fake_windows/Windows/System. Then edit ~/.cxoffice/dotwine/config and put the following in it:
[AppDefaults\\\\Xnews.exe\\\\DllOverrides]
"riched32" = "native"
