If you install this game it will run great from the get-go with one not-so-tiny little issue: When the (invisible) mouse pointer hits what I assume must be the borders of the X window backing the application, you won't be able to turn any further.
Thankfully this can be remedied by following the steps described below. I can not take full credit for those since they are basically a mashup of various sources I found using everyone's favourite search engine.
Install XIII into a new bottle (duh).
Choose "Programs/Run command..."
Enter "regedit" as the command and make sure that the bottle you created in Step 1 is selected.
Create a key with the path HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/Wine/DirectInput (if it does not yet exist).
Add a String to the key with name "MouseWarpOverride" and a value of "force".
Quit the registry editor.
When in doubt, please refer to the image below (and look past the German menu names in regedit).
