The C4P recipe I have provided enables Emulated Virtual Desktop by default.
Here's why;
The stand-alone release of this title seemingly defaults to a resolution of 800x600. Not all system setups support this mode when using fullscreen. Also, the game seems to have a limitation with respect to how it will honor Emulated Virtual Desktop if you alter the config file detailed below and don't define the same resolution for the Desktop Size setting in the Wine Configuration tool, you may get unexpected results.
If you wish to run the standalone version with Emulated Virtual Desktop enabled but at a higher screen resolution, edit the following file (linux path shown);
~/.cxgames/World Of Goo/drive_c/Program Files/WorldOfGoo/properties/config.txt
Open that file in a plaintext editor and change the lines ;
Change the screen width/height to suit your requirements.
Note: If you change these values to something that's not 4:3 aspect...for example 1400x900, you will also need to change the following line ;
<param name="refreshrate" value="60" />
For a 1400x900 desktop window, the appropriate value is likely 50 or 51. It is likely you will need to set desktop size to the same resolution value of 1400x900 as well...see below...you will know if you need to do this, as the bottom half of the game screen will be 'cut off' if the values don't match.
2. The game does runs fine in fullscreen @ 1680x1050 on this machine.
To try this, just disable Emulated Virtual Desktop in Wine Configuration {*}
Start cxsetup (Manage Bottles) -> highlight the bottle -> Control Panel -> Wine Configuration
Click Launch Selected Item -> the winecfg GUI will appear -> Click on the Graphics tab
There you will see the checkbox that enables you to turn Emulated Virtual Desktop ON/OFF
Below that, you will see where you can change the Desktop Size setting (if needed).
