Although I can open WordPerfect with an existing files with KDE, I have not been able to either save or open a file with the: "Enhanced File Dialog".
Therefore, disable it:
1. Tools -> Settings.
2. Select Files in the window that opens.
3. Uncheck the box for: "Use enhanced file dialogs" in the configuration dialog.
