QuickStart for Warcraft III with Crossover Office 3.0.0
Installation
Start from a clean CrossOver installation (may not be necessary, but this is exactly what I did so if you want to repeat...).
Install a native msvcrt.dll in the ~/.cxoffice/dotwine/fake_windows/Windows/System directory.
Put the Warcraft III CD in the drive.
Tell CrossOver to install an unsupported application from CD and to "use Win2K as the Windows version for this application".
Install the game wherever you want, and when it finishes, exit the installer.
Patching to current version (automatic)
Select Warcraft 3 from the menu to start the game. You will probably see a blank screen when the opening movie should play. Just click the mouse to get past it.
Connect to Battle.net to download the patch. When prompted, press the button to restart the game.
The game may take longer to shut down than the installer likes, so the installer may ask you to retry waiting. If that happens, just tell it to retry.
The patch should finish and automatically restart the game.
Patching to current version (manual)
You can also just download the patch via FTP and run it as an unsupported installer.
