Mounting the Share.
Instead of using the standard windows share \\\\servername\\vssdb,
I smbmounted it onto /mnt/vssdb before logging onto the VSS server.
smbmount //servername/vssdb /mnt/vssdb -o username=me
and then using the z:\\mnt\\vssdb to look for the sourcesafe.ini file.
