I have found that some gadgets present an input window that does not respond properly to keyboard input or that cannot fetch data required from VCarve, so they will not work properly. This includes "Gear Maker" and "Square Around." If they do not respond to clicking the cancel button, you can close the gadget window using the close button in the window.
Some gadgets may crash and require you to save and close VCarve. These include "Box Creator." If the application reports a fatal error, simply save your VCarve document if given the opportunity, then switch to the CrossOver window that shows all bottles and quit the bottle by using the contextual menu for the bottle in the sidebar.
