The real problem seems that uTorrent can not advertise itself as an application for .torrent files.
To start the download automatically, you can setup uTorrent to watch a particular directory (say, Z:\tmp) and always download torrents to this directory (/tmp). Once a new .torrent file is saved, uTorrent will load it, and remove the file from /tmp.
To setup uTorrent so, go to Preferences, Directories and select "Automatically load .torrents from:" and "Delete loaded .torrents" at the bottom of the pane. Fill in or select from a list the directory name on the same pane.
