Mac users should get USB Overdrive to disable the mouse acceleration. USB Overdrive is not free, but i don't know about an free alternative and from my research it seems like the best way to do it. However, disabling the acceleration makes the mouse movement more steady and the gameplay more enjoyable. So it is probably a worthwhile investment.
