As noted in other T&T, there are some registry keys that are necessary to get the game mostly working. The mouse is not going to work in the menus, so use the tab and directional arrow keys to navigate the menus to set things up.
For the registry stuff:
1) Enter the bottle manager and select the steam bottle in which UT3 is installed. 2) Click 'Run Command' and run 'regedit'. Don't close the bottle manager window yet (we will need it open during step 4) 3) You can copy and paste the following keys into a text file saved as a .reg file and import it, or go one by one verifying/adding the keys. For the Video Size key in the Direct3D section, set it to be your video RAM size that your 3D board has on it. For me, the first one here (the DirectInput one) the hive entry wasn't there, so I had to add that so I could add the key.
4) In the Bottle Manager, Quit the appropriate bottle that UT3 is installed in. This will ensure that the new registry keys are taken. 5) Launch Steam, and click on the UT3 game in your library. Off to the right will be a listing of things to do with the game. One of them will be CD Key. Click that. Copy the CD Key down somewhere (cell phone, pencil & paper, don't matter, just not on the PC) 6) Play UT3. 7) The first time you run UT3, it will ask you to enter your CD Key. Enter it in, tabbing from field to field. 8) Configure the client to your desire. For me, the game locked when I set it to a different resolution, but a relaunch was all that was necessary, it took. 9) Play!
