UFile 2010 Tips

Accessing UFile Menus Quickly

1. A Windows convention is that if a letter in the name of a menu is underlined, it can be accessed by simultaneously pressing the Alt key and whatever letter is underlined. That is often, but not always, the first letter in a menu's name, and in UFile 2010's case, the menu bar contains this:

File Edit View Tools NetFile Window Help

2. On a Mac keyboard, the Option key acts so similarly to a Windows Alt key that my option key is also marked alt (although in smaller letters). Therefore, instead of using the mouse to access UFile menus, you can use the option key as an accelerator key. Specifically, you can hold down the option key and simultaneously press:
  • F to open the File menu,
  • E to open the Edit menu,
  • V to open the View menu,
  • T to open the Tools menu,
  • W to open the Window menu, or
  • H to open the Help menu.
3. Since there's no letter underlined in the name of the NetFile menu, it can only be opened by using the mouse.
