I have installed and played TreadMarks on both platforms, Linux and Macs.
These notes are Mac specific, since I haven't used Linux in quite a while.
On a Mac, there are no issues, per se, that I have encountered. TreadMarks installs as expected, the menu items are created as expected, the game starts and plays as one would expect, and you can change all of the game options as you would expect.
The only issue that should be mentioned, are the tank controls in the game options. For instance, to fire the tank's gun, you press the space bar. When you install the game, the primary choice for firing your gun is listed as "Space". On my Mac, that did not work, and when I highlight that in the options and pressed the space bar, "Space" became "space". Uppercase became lowercase. So you just need to go through the keyboard options that you want to use and re-key them. Once you do that, everything is fine.
