Train Simulator Classic Tips

Best Graphical Settings

Mac OS X v10.8.3 Mountain Lion
CrossOver v12.2.1
Train Simulator 2013 v27.5a
To get to the graphical settings, get to the Main Menu, go to Game Settings -> Graphics.  The game works best when the graphics settings are set to "High Detail."  When the graphics are set to "Highest Detail," the game renders slowly (i.e.: the frame-rate is bad).  Click on the "Advanced" button and advanced graphical settings will be displayed.  For the Shadow Quality, use "Highest Quality" for the best results.  For Anti-Aliasing, do not use "FXAA +2 x 2 SSAA" because when you try to access the route map, it does not display the map, but a jumbled view of whatever windows you have open.  Also, do not use "FXAA +3 x 3 SSAA" because after you restart it, it loads the RailSimulator logo slide, but after it goes away, it doesn't go any farther and the screen just stays black.  The game will not load past that screen for any length of time and the game must be reinstalled!  I use the default, "FXAA," in which the map displays and the game runs just fine.
