To make the game run through Steam, you will need to install Ubisoft's Uplay client. To do this, you will need to install Steam first. Once this is installed, you can download the Uplay client separately, but install it into the same bottle that Steam is installed to.
Once this is completed, the game can be downloaded and run successfully.
