If (like me) you don't have the latest and greatest of Graphics Cards (i have a Radeon x1600) You may notice that you have trouble playing the game on maximum resolution on graphics.
Well don't be surprised.
My main solution for this issue is to set the resolution to 800x500. Yes it's small. But it's very easy for the computer to handle and boosts fps to a perfect 60 (usually). If you don't like the small window then go fullscreen. It might be pixelated but that's what you gotta live with. The other solutions include changing your texture settings to low, shaders to low, turn OFF HDR lighting, and even set the directx level to say... 80 or 81... ( -dxlevel 81 )
The lower your graphical settings the higher resolution you can set the game without loss of FPS... I may also suggest going for the widescreen settings. It's more comfortable, gameplay wise and saves the computer a wee bit of stress.
