I purchased this game as part of the star wars collection pack on steam.
I did quite a bit of messing around trying to get the actual steam copy to work, though I get an error from the launcher (launchpad.exe) which I could not seem to get around.
This is because of the age of the game, and the difference in technology between the original launcher and the updated one, I believe.
Somewhere along the line I believe sony changed their launcher from 'launchpad' to 'station launcher'.
The current version of station launcher installs and runs just fine.
To get your 'special steam copy' to work:
Begin to install the game through steam as normal, and steam will give you a notice that you must activate the game on the manufaturer's website. Click the button, "go to website", and your key will automatically be entered into the registration form. Continue this registration process.
Stop the steam installation, as these data files do not match up with the non-steam version anyways (at least per verification)
Download the trial version of the star wars game, and install wherever you like. I installed into my steam bottle and directory in hopes that I could get steam to run it normally, but with no luck.
You will have the full game and specially offered gifts once you complete the tutorial, just like with the steam version.
