Starting up the game the first time results in an error screen (most likely something containing: 00000001), before long the game becomes unresponsive or freezes while taking turns. To solve this go to your game directory under program files on your c:drive (select bottle, go to the dropdown menu under *bottle* and choose *open c:drive*). Select the map Data and find the file *settings.txt*. Open it (with a text editor) and change *allow music* from *TRUE* to *FALSE*. This should solve it; the in-game sounds remain accessible through the in-game options menu. I like to thank VLNR whose tip regarding this issue I found on the GOG forum.
