Getting Space Empires IV Deluxe (Gamersgate) to run
Starting up the game the first time results in an error screen (most likely a message containing: 00000001), before long the game becomes unresponsive or will freeze while taking turns. To solve this go to your game directory under program files on your c:drive (select bottle, go to the pulldown menu under *bottle* and choose *open c:drive*). Select the map Data and find the file *settings.txt*. Open it (with a text editor) and change *allow CD music* from *TRUE* to *FALSE*. This should solve it; the in-game sounds remain accessible through the in-game options menu.
