SolidWorks 2010 Tips

SolidWorks 2010 SP5 Installation

You can not download updates with Linux. Start up windows and use Installation Manager to load the whole DVD content from SolidWorks site. When downloaded and Installation manager has generated the DVD files to your disk boot to Linux.

- If you have already installed earlier SP of SolidWorks, Remove whole bottle and do a fresh install
- If using Ubuntu now it would be good time to disable all the screen saver and power management options
- Start up installation from your loaded files swwi/data/setup.exe
- Installation can complain about regsrv32.exe failed and ucalc32.dll missing but do not mind about those
- When installed disable the d3dxof and d3d9 from wine config
- Start up SolidWorks and it will tell you something about preparing SolidWorks for first time use, this can crash many times but if you are lucky it will finish.
