Simple OCR can open three types of image files - *.tif, *.jpg and *.bmp. As a Windows program, it requires three-letter file extensions, so it may be necessary to rename a file for compliance with that limitation. For example, myfile.tiff would have to be renamed to myfile.tif before Simple OCR would open it, and myfile.jpeg would have to be renamed to myfile.jpg. Files in other image formats would first have to be converted to one of the formats that Simple OCR can open, and Mac users would generally be able to use Preview's File | Export... to convert a file, then the Finder to adjust the file extension.
