Ryzom ran successfully on a Macbook Pro Core 2 Duo 2.4GHz, GeForce 8600M GT (256MB VRAM), 4GB RAM, Mac OS X 10.5.4.
Install procedure is as follows:
1) Install Crossover Games (7.1.1 or later; confirmed working with CG 9.1.0).
2) Create a winxp bottle.
3) Download the standard Ryzom .exe installer from http://www.ryzom.com; i.e. English version:
http://www.ryzom.com/en/download_game.html
4) Run the installer in your new winxp bottle: Configure (menu) -> Install Software... -> Install Unsupported Software... -> winxp bottle -> Choose Installer file...
5) Once the install is complete, close the Installation Complete window (do not run Ryzom yet).
6) Copy the following dll files from a working Windows XP (Home/Pro) installation (i.e. C:\Windows\System32\) to your Ryzom program folder (i.e. /Users/$USER/Library/Application Support/CrossOver Games/Bottles/winxp/drive_c/Program Files/Ryzom):
1. mfc42.dll
2. msvcp60.dll
3. msvcrt.dll
7) [optional, but recommended for better compatibility] Create a virtual desktop: Configure (menu) > Manage Bottles... > [select your ryzom bottle] > choose "Wine Configuration" > Launch Selected Item.
In the Wine Configuration window, select Graphics (tab), enable "Emulate a virtual desktop".
For Desktop size, I recommend full width (your current screen resolution), and 50px less than your total resolution height. For example, for an OS X 1440x900 display size, enter: width 1440, height 850.
8) Run Ryzom from the Programs menu.
This is known to work as of September 2008. Instructions updated August 2010.
