1.Setup
To install RootsMagic 5 in Crossover, first launch Crossover and head to the "Install Software" menu, which you'll find in Crossover's "Configure" menu:
With the Install Software menu up, select "RootsMagic 5" from the list of Supported applications and click "Install" to proceed:
2.Install
Crossover will now create a new "bottle" (windows environment for housing RootsMagic) and also download a number of necessary dependency packages for RootsMagic's functionality. These packages will be being popping up, now, prompting you to approve their installation. These packages include the "Microsoft XML Parser":
The Adobe Flash Player:
And Microsoft's Internet Explorer 7. Note that you'll want to make sure the "Install the latest updates" box in Internet Explorer is
**not** checked:
and also that you
**do** need to click on the "restart" button - this won't actually restart your computer, it's just a "simulated reboot" for IE7's sake:
When this is complete, the RootsMagic 5 installer will pop up. Walk through the prompts, leaving all of the defaults in place including the install destination - do not change this:
At the end of the installation,
**uncheck** the box that says "launch RootsMagic", and then click "finish":
This will allow Crossover to perform its final setup and complete the install. Crossover will then finish up the install process and report that it is "done". Click on the "done" button to finish:
3. Launch RootsMagic
When this is complete, you can launch RootsMagic from Crossover's Programs menu.
If you've got a paid version of RootsMagic, you can choose the "Full Version" option on the opening screen, otherwise proceed with the free version:
