The game installs correctly into it's own bottle, using the
win98 or winXP bottle profiles. Note that the game's hardcoded
screen resolutions are all 4:3 aspect, and so if you have a
16:9/10 widescreen display, you will have to run things in
windowed mode (Emulate a virtual desktop).
Use
cxsetup to configure the bottle, using
winecfg to run in windowed
mode ('Emulate a virtual desktop');
0. Start
cxsetup1. Highlight the bottle you installed the game into
2. Click on 'Configure' => 'Control Panel' => 'winecfg' -- the Wine Configuration GUI will appear
3. Now click on 'Graphics' tab => tick 'Emulate a virtual desktop'
4. Click on 'Apply' => 'Ok' => 'Ok"
5. Exit
cxsetupDuring installation, things will/may stop at a prompt telling you to
hit Alt-Tab to proceed with registration -- you have to work-around
this step for the installer to complete cleanly. When/if this happens,
do the following ;
1. open a terminal shell (xterm, konsole, whatever you like)
2. type the command below into the shell and hit enter;
killall -9 INF1.exe
3. The installation will now proceed normally.
Note: It will ask if you want to install the pdf reader - it's okay to
cancel this part. Crossover will use your system pdf viewer instead.
Installing the expansion packs: Tips&tricks for installing both the
WackyWorlds and TimeTwister expansion packs can be found
here and
here.
I am not sure if order matters, but I personally have been installing
the TimeTwister pack first, then restarting rct2 itself to let it
incorporate the new content, then exit the game and install the Wacky
Worlds pack, and find everything is 'as it should be and working' using
that approach.
