Rollcage Stage 2 supports most all linux HID controllers, and
the actual instructions for setting these up you can find by
clicking on the link that appears at the bottom of this page.
That said, there are some =additional= points to consider here
specifically related to Rollcage Stage 2 that you should spend
the time reading/getting to know first.
Note: If you are only going to use analog/gameport connected devices,
you're pretty much set to go - skip these next bits and click
on the link at the bottom to test/calibrate your device.
Note: This game would not start/run properly at all if you havea USB based 'GT-4' Steering-wheel plugged in. The menus become
uncontrollable and pretty much -all- user input is messed-up.(I
have discovered this same thing happens even in windows, so I do
not think this is COG's fault - more likely a game bug)
Using USB based gamepads/devices: You will need to obtain/install the
dinput8.dll file for these devices to work. If I'm correct, this .dll
file is provided by installing directx into the same bottle you installed
Rollcage Stage 2 into -- otherwise you can find this file
here. Copy this
file to the following location (linux path shown);
~/.cxgames/bottle_name/drive_c/windows/system32
0. Start cxsetup
1. Highlight the bottle you installed the game into
2. Click on 'Configure' => 'Control Panel' => 'winecfg' -- the Wine Configuration GUI will appear
3. Then click on the 'Libraries' tab ..
4. In the 'New override for library', input dinput8.dll and click 'Add'
5. Now, in the 'Existing overrides:' section, find dinput8 => click on 'Edit' and change it to 'Native'
6. Click on Apply, Ok, exit
Now click on
this link for more information about setting things up.
Note: Rollcage Stage 2 doesn't differentiate between one or another HID
device (pretend you have 2 or more plugged in). It will however recognize
the HID device you want to use, when you press on buttons in the ingame
controller setup menu..
