Note: may require installation of Microsoft Directx Runtime into the same bottle.
Before you begin, you will need to grab a file from the 'net.
A. The file is the official Rollcage Stage II patch =>
Try this Installing the game ;
1. Install the game as normal, into it's own bottle using the win98 profile,
make sure to choose the FULL installation
Note: Do NOT install directx7 contained on the disk. The installer may
ask if you want to do so -- answer 'NO'.
Once the installation is complete, just exit the installer - do not start
the game now, as it won't work yet.
2. Copy the executable obtained in A. above, to the following location (linux path shown);
~/.cxgames/<bottle name>/drice_c/Program Files/Psygnosis/Rollcage Stage II/
Now onto the next bit - we use cxsetup for the remaining steps.
This title supports multiple native fullscreen resolutions, however the modes
available are all 4:3 aspect. If you have a widescreen or 16:9/10 display type or
otherwise cannot use a fullscreen 4:3 aspect resolution, you will have to run
things in windowed mode (Emulate a virtual desktop) for the game to start/run.
To do this, use
cxsetup to configure the bottle, and then use
winecfg to configure
wine to run in windowed mode ('Emulate a virtual desktop');
0. Start
cxsetup1. Highlight the bottle you installed the game into
Note: If you are using fullscreen mode, skip down to step 6.
2. Click on 'Configure' => 'Control Panel' => 'winecfg' -- the Wine Configuration GUI will appear
3. Now click on 'Graphics' tab => tick 'Emulate a virtual desktop'
4. After enabling virtual desktop mode, you may accept the default 800x600 setting.
5. Click on 'Apply' => 'Ok' => 'Ok'
6. With the bottle you installed the game into highlighted, click on Configure => 'Control Panel'
7. Click on the 'Run' button => 'Browse' and navigate to the executable you copied in step 2. above,
then click on 'Open' => 'Run' to apply the official update patch.
8. All done, try playing the game...go wild!
Note: linux joystick support working well
