option to disable new (in 2.205) native synchronization (for WINE)
Under the Reaper preferences, if you go to Audio, then Buffering, you can uncheck the box marked 'Use Native Events for Synchronising' this was added for better performance in Wine. Seems to make a difference for me, but you can always recheck the box if it has an adverse effect.
