Linux ATI Proprietary driver version 3.40 benefits Rail Road Tycoon 3
Well I continued my testing today and found that with the newest release of the ATI proprietary drivers performance is actually boosted with graphic processing causing you to be able to run RRT3 in a higher video mode.
I ran a series of tests and found that you can now successfully run RRT3 in the High Video quality setting and still have the game run smoothly. If you go to Very High or Ultra High you will get sluggish performance.
Also after you load a campaign for the first time after installation you will notice the game runs incredibly slow for some people. An easy fix to this I have found is to close RRT3 out fully and then use the Terminate Windows Applications feature in the CrossOver menu to make sure all windows apps are closed. When you reload RRT3 you should not be able to set the video quality to a higher level and get better performance out of it. I do not YET have an nvidia card to test this on so as of now I only know this to be the case with ATI cards. I am going to get an Nvidia laptop and will proceed to test Nvidia on that and post here if I have more tips.
