I stole this from the Diablo II forum. This tip assumes that:
-
You already have sound working in linux, and
-
Aren't fighting with ESD, arTs,or some other sound daemon. If you suspect a sound daemon is cramping your style, this tip won't help you.
-
You've already patched Ragnarok to it's newest version.
Step 1: Install Ragnarok Online, obviously.
Step 2: Try to start it using command line, i.e, in the RagnarokOnline folder, execute:
"YOUR_PATH/cxoffice/bin/wine Setup.exe"
Step 3: Set up Ragnarok to use Fullscreen Mode, and make sure you have the desktop
size setup properly under Crossover (see this Forum and wineHq for details).
Step 4: Select a sound setting. If it works, it works with all of them, so take your pick.
Step 5: Execute "YOUR_PATH/cxoffice/bin/wine Ragexe.exe 1rag1"
Step 6: Recieve error: "Audio Init Failed." Ragnarok will then crash.
Step 7: Execute the command, "YOUR_PATH/cxoffice/bin/wine --bottle
BOTTLE_FOR_RAGNAROK --wl-app winecfg" Under the "Audio" tab, switch
"Hardware" to "Emulation." Also, set driver to "oss" or "alsa" or whatever, depending
on your system. I set this to alsa; your mileage may vary. Hit "Apply" and quit
application.
Step 8: Re-run "YOUR_PATH/cxoffice/bin/wine Ragexe.exe 1rag1" You should now hear
sound, and see the login prompt. From there, you're on your own.
