The GamersGate release is the standalone 'Offline' release of Race 07 ; that means there is *no* multiplayer gameplay at all (LAN or internet) -- it's just you versus the AI drivers....
That said, you can use the serial key provided when you purchase Race 07 from GamersGate, and use it to register/download the 'Online' version via Steam, which gives you the multiplayer options, but, online/lan gameplay is known not to work in Steam....
You may have both the offline and online version installed at the same time...
