I struggled for several weeks getting Quicken 2016 R14 to run in Crossover. Here are the steps that finally got it working. Using the Quicken 2017 Crossties and installing into a Windows 7 bottle were the key difference that finally got it running again.

1. Uninstall all prior Crossover installations and delete existing bottles.
2. Check there are no residual files in .cxoffice and cxoffice
3. Clean install Crossover 17.0.0beta3.bin
4. Install Quicken 2016 using the Quicken 2017 Crosstie in a new Windows 7 bottle
(During install Quicken will state updating to latest version but it does not)
5. Download the latest Quicken 2016 Mondo Patch (R14) - https://assistant.quicken.com/...
6. Install R14 patch using the Quicken 2017 Mondo Patch Crosstie, but CHOOSE THE DOWNLOADED R14 exe file as the install source.
7. If you have a working Quicken 2016 file, make a copy. (just to be safe...)
8. Launch Quicken and open the copied Quicken file.
9. Go through the Create a Quicken ID steps or login if you already have a Quicken ID and then enter the PIN code.
