I have managed to get Quicken Home and Business 2011 (Australian Edition) up and running.
Software environment.
Ubuntu 10.04.1 LTS with current updates - 64 bit
Crossover Pro for AMD64 9.2.0-1
Download URLYou will need to register at
http://www.quicken.com.au/Products/QuickenHomeAndBusiness/trial.aspx
for a trial key. There is no email verification for the trial key.
Although there is no breakdown of dependencies at the australian site, the site at intuit.com (http://quicken.intuit.com/personal-finance-software/home-and-small-business.jsp) reports the system requirements as follows:
Microsoft .NET 2.0 or later (included in Quicken installer)
Windows Installer 3.1 (included in Quicken installer)
Internet Explorer 6.0 or later (included in Quicken installer)
With this in mind, I created the following bottle:
WinXP template
Under Runtime Support Components
- installed MS .NET Framework 2.0
Under Supported Applications
- installed Internet Explorer 7.0 into the same bottle
Finally, I installed Quicken 2011 via the installation executable
This initially is an winzip package which then runs the installer - crossover copes with this fine.
During the install, you are asked whether you wish to install the Data Converter (to convert from MS Money format to quicken) and the HUBB investor software. I suggest declining, as these functions are not essential to the Quicken software itself.
The bottle will reset and you will be left with a desktop icon for quicken 2011.
Launching via this or the menu shortcut brings up Quicken 2011 in fullscreen. You will then be prompted for your trial key.
Entering this will successfully verify the trial with the reckon servers and you will be allowed into the main program.
You will then be required to register - this fires up an embedded IE7 window, which seems to work correctly.
I haven't tested any further than this but the indications are good so far.
