Quicken 2004 Tips

WebConnect files (.qfx) do not work

WebConnect is used to download transactions from your financial institution into Quicken.

How it should work:
1) Open a bank account in Quicken
2) Click on Reconsile Account
3) Say 'Yes' when it asks if you want to download transactions. (at this point Quicken launches an integrated browser to your financial institution's website)
4) Sign in and download the WebConnect statement
5) Integrated browser automatically minimizes and you are shown transactions from your statement and allowed to match them to entered transactions, or add them to your log as new transactions.

How it Does Work:
- Steps 1-4 (above) work but the WebConnect File will not open in Quicken.

Update: WebConnect files can be opened by going to File > Import > Web Connect File (.qfx).

Update 2: WebConnect seems to work in 5.0.3 for some online banks. By connecting to Bank of America and attempting to download a statement, a dialog box was presented with the options to Open, Save, Cancel, and when selecting Open Quicken's online update came to life and downloaded the statement. However, Capital One caused an error in IE and required Quicken / CXOffice to be killed and restarted.
