Just a quick tip which is that, from my experience, Portal doesn't seem to run well in general-purpose bottles and you should install the preconfigured bottle for Portal.
I was running the pre-configured Steam bottle and tried out Portal where I get sub-par performance and weird bugs. Switching to the proper Portal bottle solved this issue and the results were very playable.
