In a 'Windows XP' bottle, Paperport 9 (PP9, for short) will install without issue, but will not bring up GUI or start.
But in a 'Windows 98' bottle, it will install & run just perfectly.
How to install PP9 in Crossover 8.0.0:
1. I installed PP9 in a new 'Windows 98' bottle. Don't know if it will run in a 'used' bottle, too. I guess it will.
2. After you have created the new bottle, BEFORE you install PP9, install Internet Explorer 6. (If you don't, PP9 will complain and refuse to install).
3. Next, install PP9. There is a relatively long delay after the last installation dialog. Resist the temptation to force installation completion.
4. I recommend to install the 'Service Pack' for PP9 too. You can find it on Nuance's website. This step is optional, though.
Voila - that's it.
Note: When the program launches, it will display an empty 'splash screen' which looks somewhat strange but it does no harm. Note: I haven't tried a Visioneer (Strobe or other) scanner in conjunction with this 'bottled' PP9, but I doubt it will run. See for yourself. Note: I also haven't tested if (and how) PP9's 'application bar' works in a 'bottled' environment. I don't need this functionality, so I have switched the application bar off altogether.
