Online Bible 4 Tips

No Tip Title!

TIP
When you've lost the Study-assistent (it has gone in the background), call it from
the taskbar and it will reappear. Then it stays on top.

NOTICE
This article tells you how to install the CD-Online bible software version 1.13 or earlier with
Crossover Office 2 or earlier. From Crossover Office 3 there is no need for the tuning as described
here.

OBSTACLE
When you install the Online bible software with Crossover Office, it seems that it is fully supported.
However, when you start the Online bible program after finishing the installation, you will notice
that it complains about not being able to find two fonts, OlbGrk.ttf and OlbHeb.ttf. Twice you get two
error messages:
-an error "file not found" occurs. You can proceed by clicking the OK-button
-an error "font not correctly installed occurs. You can proceed by clicking the
 OK-button
After these errors the program really starts and you will notice that the text (bibleverses, excerpts
from books etc.) are not displayed. The program seems useless.

SOLUTION
The program is able to run quite well under Crossover Office, with 2 files from a real
Windows-installation. You will have to copy them in de Crossover Office windows-directory and tell
Crossover Office to use it. Follow the steps as prescribed in Guide-part in this article.

When you have finished these steps, you can start the Online bible program. It will still complain
about the two missing fonts, OlbGrk.ttf and OlbHeb.ttf, with error messages. After that however, it
will run with only some minor glitches and is perfectly usable!

GUIDE
Step 1:
Copy riched20.dll and riched32.dll, located in c:/windows/system/ at a real windows installation like
Windows 98se or Windows XP, and paste it in the Crossover Office directory. In my installation this
directory is:
  /home/my_username/cxoffice/support/dotwine/fake_windows/Windows/System

Step 2:
Make a backup of the Crossover Office-config file, named config, which is located in my installation
at:
  /home/my_username/cxoffice/support/dotwine/
Then open the original and add under [DllOverrides]:
; For Online bible by my_username
"riched20" = "native" <= in some versions not required**
        "riched32" = "native"
NB**: cxoffice version 3 has already a builtin riched20.dll, so this line can be left out then

Step 3:
Install the Online bible software by the Crossover Office setup-program, as you would do with any
other program.

Step 4:
If you have configured Crossover Office to use only the true type fonts from your linux installation
(located in the X11 fontdirectory), than add OlbGrk.ttf and OlbHeb.ttf to your linux installation. You
can check your Crossover Office-configuration in the Crossover Office setup-program, under the tab
Configuration, the button advanced, under True Types font dir.
Adding fonts to your linux installation can be done in several different ways; check your
distribution-documentation.
Instead of adding the fonts to your linux installation, it is also possible to add the Crossover
Office windows-directory to yhe list of possible font directories. Paste /windows/C/windows/fonts:
before the reference to your X11-directory.
