When using Crossover Version 9.0.1 with NewsRover 15.3, you most often should close NewsRover before quitting CrossOver otherwise NewsRover will present an error that the program encountered a serious error. Although the message doesn't seem to present itself with any actual damage, it may leave session databases open thus leaving large, incomplete files behind.
